1993 Mustang "Cobra SVT"

***** New on the Market *****

Woodburn Dragstrip, 2011

This is a REAL Cobra SVT Mustang with factory certification papers and the original build sheet. The car has been 9.70 at over 140 mph. It has a 521" Ford that made 715 hp on the Dynamometer. In this picture and the next one it had a Power-Glide auto and a Ford 9" with 4:11 gears and a spool. We are upgrading this Mustang to run the low 9s.

Heating up the Goodyears at Woodburn Dragstrip.  With this configuration the car ran low 10s as evidenced by the 10.14 dial on the windshield. Sixty foot times are around 1.50 with the Power-Glide and 4.11 Super Gears.

This car is still 100% street legal and can be licensed. It has interior, electric windows, lights, all instruments and can run in the "Street Legal" class.

We are in the process of modifying this car. I am upgrading the motor to a bigger 532" thumper with 13.5 to 1 pistons. I am installing a custom ground roller cam that lifts .810, has about 286 degrees duration @ .050" lift and has a 112 lobe separation. I am having the Ford Motorsports "Cobra Jet" heads ported by a race shop (Bird Racing Engines) in Idaho. I am replacing the two speed Power-Glide with a race-built Hughes Performance Turbo 400, 3-speed and I am probably changing to 4.30 rear gears. The Hughes Turbo-400 has a special 2.75 first gear so I will try the existing 4.11 gears to see how the combination likes the higher ratio. My educated estimate is that this car will run 9.20s at 148 mph. Sixty foot times should be about 1.25 - we'll soon see how good my estimates are.

- Notice -

This car is for sale now, but it will be March before it is ready to ship. I am willing to deliver it to a southwestern dragstrip like either SpeedWorld or Firebird Raceway by Phoenix Arizona, or maybe to Las Vegas, Nevada. This will carry a modest fee, but I will include a weekend of personal lessons at the race track. I am licensed to 8.50 and very experienced with mid-9 second race cars.
